Why is Sponsoring a Student Important?

In the Costa Chica region of Guerrero, many Afro-Mexican and Indigenous children and youth live in communities where economic hardship creates significant barriers to accessing school supplies, technology, and quality educational opportunities.

For many families, keeping their children in school requires a constant financial effort. In some cases, they must choose between meeting basic household needs and covering expenses related to education, such as supplies, transportation, internet connectivity, and other essential resources. In 2022, 22.2% of Guerrero's population was living in extreme poverty, one of the highest rates in Mexico.

Behind this figure are children and young people with talents, aspirations, and dreams that deserve the opportunity to flourish. Their future should not be determined by where they were born, their ethnic heritage, or their family's financial circumstances. Every student deserves an equal opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

Sponsoring a student is a direct investment in education and opportunity. Your support helps students remain in school by providing access to essential resources that strengthen learning and remove barriers to academic success. More than a financial contribution, it is a commitment to a child's potential, helping ensure that where they were born or their family's economic circumstances do not determine the opportunities available to them or the future they can build.
